Meet the Chinook Shell — Explore 45 Edition
For 45 years, Explore has been reminding Canadians that the next adventure is closer than it looks — often as close as a rainy trailhead an hour outside the city. To celebrate the magazine's 45th anniversary, Explore and Northern Sun built three limited-edition layers together, starting with the one that handles the weather.
The Chinook Shell arrives here in Cedar Brown, a warm, understated neutral created for the Explore collaboration and available in no other Northern Sun colourway, finished with the Explore 45 anniversary mark. The shell itself is unchanged: waterproof, windproof, fully taped seams, underarm vents, and a structured hood that holds its shape when the wind comes off the water.
Wear it on its own through a stretch of West Coast drizzle, or layer it over the Explore edition Chinook Sherpa in Cedar Smoke when the temperature drops. Same layering system, limited-edition colours.

A note on final sale: The Explore 45 collection is a one-time run in colours we won't produce again, so every order is final — no returns, exchanges, or size swaps. We'd rather help you get it right than have you stuck with the wrong size. Manufacturing defects are still covered by our lifetime warranty.
